HOME RUN DERBY IQEight hitters · 20 swings · every pitch is a question · name someone who fits to go deep

How to play

The Home Run Derby, but every pitch is a trivia question. Eight hitters, three rounds — the 2026 format.

  • "Name someone who won a title with three different teams." Any player who truly fits and it's gone. A wrong name, a take, or the clock running out is a swing with nothing to show for it — every swing counts.
  • 20 seconds a pitch. The clock keeps running if you leave the page.
  • Round 1: 20 swings. The top four of eight advance, seeded by homers (longest homer breaks ties). Semifinal and final: 15 swings, head-to-head. A tie there goes to a three-swing swing-off.
  • If your last swing is a homer, you keep swinging until you miss.
  • The pitches get nastier every 3 homers: meatball, fastball, slider, splitter, knuckleball. Every round starts back on meatballs.
  • Harder pitch + faster answer = a longer home run.
